In both, we are identifying and dealing with an information layer in a text. An information layer in a text suggests that the text’s meaning or interpretation derives in part from how it produces information, which is to say how it organises itself and thus rationally coheres as a structure or program. Obviously it is central to computation, but it is also a quality of poetics.
Are we programming when we write poetry?
Dealing with information invokes an immersive relationship to texts in general. This is to say we are actively organising and rationalizing or reasoning through texts. On one level, the text becomes aligned with tools for producing information: processing and generating.
